Dr. Pennington graduated Cum Laude from the University of Mississippi and earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine where he was a member of AOA honor society. He has served as Resident of Surgery at Charity Hospital of Louisiana, General Surgeon, United States Air Force and Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellow at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans.
Dr. Pennington has served as Chairman of the Department of Surgery, Chief of the Medical Staff and Secretary of the Board of Directors at Northside Hospital as well as elected Head of the NSH Physicians Organization. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. He is Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. Dr. Pennington is an active member of the Medical Association of Georgia, the American Medical Association and the Medical Association of Atlanta.
